CP Capital Expands ‘Project Destined’ Partnership

Leading investment manager mentored a diverse group of local students and led them in a work-based learning program

April 12, 2023 – CP Capital, a highly disciplined U.S. real estate manager specializing in multifamily investments, today announced the completion of its most recent partnership with Project Destined, a social impact education and investment platform that specializes in training underserved youth.

In February, the firm welcomed 13 students of diverse backgrounds for the Spring semester of the program. Participants received one-on-one training and mentorship and the opportunity to work with an established multifamily investment firm. Students who participated attend Fordham University, Baruch College, Hunter College, New York University, St. John’s University, CUNY York College, Lehman College and Pace University.

The program marks CP Capital’s second mentorship with Project Destined, after welcoming a separate cohort of students in October of 2022.

“Through the continuation of our partnership with Project Destined, CP Capital is able to play an active role in fostering better outcomes for our firm, the commercial real estate industry at-large, and the students involved in our program,” said Logan King, Director of Investments at CP Capital. “Diversity and inclusion are among our firm’s core values, and we are proud to have provided this new crop of young professionals with the guidance and support needed to create a strong, more equitable future for the real estate industry.”

Project Destined leverages a work-based learning approach where students join executives to evaluate actual commercial real estate deals in their community, and compete in a pitch competition to industry leaders to earn scholarships. CP Capital mentors prepared, engaged, and guided students one-on-one to help them develop a range of fundamentals—including financial, technical, presentation, and leadership skills—designed to aid them in obtaining internships, certifications, and full-time employment, launching their careers in commercial real estate.

“We are excited to partner with CP Capital to introduce this incredible group of students to potential careers in commercial real estate,” said Project Destined Co-Founder Cedric Bobo. “Our industry provides a broad range of career alternatives that also enable you to impact your community. Our partnership with CP Capital will ensure that these students are aware of these opportunities and ready to take on that challenge.”

Since its founding in 2016, Project Destined has worked with more than 4,500 participants in 35 cities across the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Europe. CP Capital joins a growing list of partners that includes Wells Fargo, JLL, Newmark, Greystar, Hines, Eastdil Secured, and Brookfield Properties – all of which support Project Destined and its mission to provide training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and real estate to students from underserved communities.
